Water leaking into the cafeteria at Ala Wai Elementary School had some parents concerned.
According to the school, the leak started Tuesday afternoon.
A parent reached out to KHON2 saying her child told her he did not want to eat in the cafeteria because it smelled bad.
“It was stinky. So I brought my son into school this morning to eat breakfast, and he could smell while he was eating breakfast. So he said he didn’t want to eat,” said parent Cassandra Bridgman.
The Department of Education told us crews cleared the drains and cleaned and sanitized the cafeteria.
They’re continuing to check out the source of the problem.
The education department will notify parents by the end of the week.
