Most popular Hawaii baby names for 2014

The Social Security Administration has released their list of popular baby names for 2014.

Topping the list both locally and nationally for boys names is the name Noah. For girls, it is Emma.

Lat year, Liam and Olivia topped Hawaii’s list while Noah and Sophia were at the top for the U.S.

According to CNN, Noah gained popularity in 2005 after Ryan Gosling stole hearts as Noah in “The Notebook.” Emma debuted on the list in 2002, around the same time that actress Emma Watson debuted as Hermoine in the “Harry Potter” series.

Other notable mentions on the top ten list is James on the boy’s list and Charlotte on the U.S. girl’s list.

CNN notes that James has finally made its return to the list at number nine after being at the top in the 1940s and 1950s. Charlotte has appeared on the list at number ten for the first time ever and is expected to gain even more popularity due to the birth of Princess Charlotte earlier this year.

Speaking of Brits, CNN reports that Oliver and Amelia are the most popular baby names in England and Wales.
