Thursday’s Need to Know

Officials are  advising people not to go into the water at Sandy Beach after a nearly one million gallon sewage spill.  The Hawaii American Water Plant released the wastewater about a quarter mile off-shore. It does not pose significant risk to beachgoers. Warning signs are posted.

Honolulu firefighters resume the search Thursday morning for a missing woman, swept away during Wednesday night’s rains. The 46-year-old was camped under a bridge on Kuakini Street when it happened.

Hawaii Island police are investigating a murder in Puna. The victim was found dead outside her home Tuesday night. If you know anything, call HawaiiIisland Crime Stoppers.

The no parking signs that went up near Laniakea Beach on Monday will not be enforced for now. The Department of Transportation says there is a dispute about jurisdiction.

A block party will be shutting down part of merchant street in downtown Honolulu Thursday night. It’s all for the 19th annual Pigskin Pigout at Murphy’s Bar and Grill. The party kicks off at 5 p.m.
