Hawaiian Telcom takes their role as Hawaii’s Technology Leader very seriously. Customers count on them to keep them connected, no matter what kind of severe weather hits Hawaii. So first and foremost, preparedness is key. Hawaiian Telcom conducts an emergency preparedness drill every year. In fact, they just went through a company drill in July. Hawaiian Telcom has a state-of-the-art Network Operations Center that runs 24/7, and a team monitors the statewide network and facilities as well as severe weather conditions that could impact our state. They also have dedicated team members who are touch with Civil Defense on all islands. They are also ready to help every island in Hawaii if problems arise. For example, when Hurricane Iselle impacted the Big Island, Hawaiian Telcom mobilized their workforce on other islands to fly over to assist.
