Honolulu police have reopened the westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway at Makalapa Gate early Sunday evening.
The road was shut down in both directions at approximately 11:14 a.m. due to a gas leak.
According to the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation, a corroded gas line began leaking in an area that is undergoing utility relocation work for the rail project.
No work was being done at the time the leak was reported.
The eastbound lanes were reopened at around 2:19 p.m.
HART estimates repairs will last until about 6 p.m.
