Two arrested after purse-snatching goes wrong near Kualoa Ranch

Honolulu police have opened up a robbery investigation after a purse-snatching targeting a Japanese tourist went horribly wrong.

Police have arrested an adult male and a juvenile for second-degree robbery in connection to this case.

The incident occurred on Kamehameha Highway near Kualoa Ranch in Windward Oahu Sunday morning.

Police say the female tourist was walking near the bus stop on the highway when a passenger in a white SUV grabbed her purse.

KHON2 was told that the woman suffered road rash and non-life-threatening injuries. She was then taken to Castle Medical Center.

After the incident occurred, police searched for the SUV and were able to locate it at 10:40 a.m. on Puakenikeni Road in Kaawa.

Police remained on the scene until about 3:30 p.m. to gather evidence.

KHON2 was told that the suspects were being questioned by detectives at the Kaneohe Police station late Sunday afternoon.

They have not been charged pending investigation.
