A Kona woman has died after an incident Monday, Sept. 21, in Kailua-Kona.
It happened at around 7:41 p.m. Monday on Manawalea Street.
The woman was identified as Keri Flores, 31.
Police determined that Flores was a passenger in a 2015 Nissan Sentra that had been traveling east. She fell out of the passenger side of the vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries.
Flores was taken to Kona Community Hospital and later flown to Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu, where she was pronounced dead at 7:39 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Traffic Enforcement Unit officers have taken over the coroner’s inquest investigation and have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Police will wait for the autopsy results before counting this death toward the official traffic fatality count.
