Bethany Hamilton is a professional surfer, shark attack survivor and source of inspiration for many people.
The Kauai native is also a new mother. She gave birth to her son, Tobias, in June.
Hamilton was at Kahala Mall Wednesday to meet fans and sign autographs as the new spokeswoman for Jamba Juice.
She tells us she’s still finding a balance between surfing and motherhood.
“I think it was about six weeks after I had Tobias, I found out I was going to be surfing in the (Swatch Women’s Pro), which was a month and a half later, and I was like, whoa, I’ve got a lot of work to do,” she said. “So I just started working out a lot and surfing a lot and thankfully my husband was really supportive with helping to watch Tobias so I could still train, and it was great. It felt good to get back into it.”
Hamilton says she’s now working on a film project to encourage young girls to participate in sports.
