Bishop Museum announced Monday it will open its doors daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to the visiting public beginning Tuesday, Oct. 6.
It will also begin charging a nominal parking fee of $5 per vehicle starting Sunday, Nov. 1.
These new changes come amid plans to improve and care for the museum campus. The museum previously was closed on Tuesdays and parking was at no cost.
Parking remains free for museum members.
These changes are all part of a comprehensive business plan that will broaden the museum’s operating model through a sustainable mix of programs and activities while dramatically shifting the museum focus to center around the visitor experience.
Examples of this include a special limited engagement of laser light shows in the J. Watumull Planetarium, and the museum’s newest exhibit fusing fashion and art – WOW, or World of WearableArt exhibit now to Feb. 1, 2016.
