City cracks down on cab drivers

The city is cracking down on taxicab drivers.

Inspectors just wrapped up a series of random check-ups on more than a hundred cab drivers who were parked at various tourist attractions.

More than two dozen drivers were cited for violations related to their taxi meter and driving certificates and they will have to go to court.

The city says they’ve hired more inspectors to do more random checks.

The following data describes enforcement actions completed between September 24 and October 8, 2015.

September 24 enforcement at Diamond Head State Monument Park

 

· 8 vehicles inspected

· 4 vehicles were found non-compliant

· 7 Citations were issued for various violations

  4 – Rate chart related

  •  1 – Driver certificate related
  •  1 – Taxi meter related
  •  1 – Trip record related

October 1 enforcement at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve

 

· 27 vehicles inspected

· 7 vehicles were found non-compliant

· 8 Citations were issued for various violations

  •  6 – Driver certificate related
  •  2 – Taxi meter related

October 1 enforcement at the USS Arizona Memorial

 

  • 44 vehicles inspected
  • 6 vehicles were found non-compliant
  • 7 Citations were issued for various violation
    • 4 – Driver certificate related
    • 1 – Insurance related
    • 1 – Taxi dome related
    • 1 – Trip record related

  •  5 vehicles were found non-compliant
  • 5 Citations were issued for various violations
