HONOLULU Fashion Week presented by Hawaiian Airlines enters its second year, with the goal of bringing fashion coverage to life while celebrating the energy and growing momentum in Hawai‘i’s fashion industry. Designers and models from Hawaii and around the world are getting ready for the big shows coming up later this week.
The four-day event begins November 19 and culminates November 20-22 at the Hawai‘i Convention Center. Seating for all fashion shows will be available on a first-come, first-served basis unless otherwise noted. Those who wish to guarantee a seat may purchase a limited number of reserved tickets by visiting www.honolulumagazine.eventbrite.com. The schedule is subject to change.
In addition to the strong lineup of designers, several fashion industry celebrities will be attending and participating in the event including The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute curator-in-charge Harold Koda, New York Fashion Week creator Fern Mallis, Hawai‘i-born and internationally known model Keke Lindgard, Japanese-American model Jun Hasegawa, Argentine-Japanese fashion model Jessica Michibata, and reigning Miss Hawai‘i USA, model and fashion blogger Emma Wo.
Some of the events include a nod to Tokyo Street Fashion, a designer competition judged by local celebrities, a model search, and runway shows. One of the more emotional moments of HONOLULU Fashion Week is a runway show featuring cancer survivors of various age, who will step onto the runway in Beautiful Survivors. This collaborative fashion show brings together Hawai‘i Pacific Health and Hawai‘i-based designers.
There is also a HONOLULU Fashion Week Marketplace with designs from more than 50 local designers, beauty bars and sponsor booths. For more information on HONOLULU Fashion Week, visit www.honolulufashionweek.com.
