International designers show off collections on the Honolulu Fashion Week runway

High fashion hit the runway in Honolulu Saturday night.

The “Hawaiian Airlines Runway to Runway” fashion show at the Hawaii Convention Center is Honolulu Fashion Week’s latest event.

This year marks the second time the week-long fashion showcase has taken place in Hawaii.

“This year it’s so much bigger,” said Lynne Hanzawa O’Neill, executive producer of Honolulu Fashion Week. “This year, not only do we have 6 fashion shows, but we have over 50 designers who are selling all of their collections right here at the marketplace. So you know, it’s a whole shopping experience too.”

Saturday evening’s show featured several international designers from Hawaiian Air’s key destinations, including Kaypee Soh of Hawaii, Todd Snyder from New York, Ellery from Sydney, Lie Sangbong from Seoul and Aula from Tokyo.

“There’s a lot of nature inspired, lots of color, everything is bright bright flowers plants and texture,” said Hawaii’s own Soh, describing his collection.

Honolulu Fashion Week continues Sunday at the convention center, free and open to the public.

It includes the marketplace from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a model search 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
