The CDC will give an update later Thursday morning on the dengue fever outbreak on Hawaii Island. And residents can attend another public informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night at Pahoa High School

Pest detection crews will survey the Mililani Mauka area on Thursday to make sure little fire ants have not returned.

The State Supreme Court invalidated the permit to build the Thirty Meter Telescope atop Mauna Kea on Hawaii Island. This comes on the same day an emergency stay- blocking crews from construction- would have expired. Construction will likely be delayed.

Sanitation crews will work overtime on Sunday to pick up trash on the routes they didn’t get to during the normal work week. The City Council promises to monitor the situation and step in if need be.

The Department of Agriculture is checking each shipment of Christmas trees for unwanted critters. So far, it’s held eleven of the 201 containers for treatment.

Head over to Kaimuki for its annual Christmas parade. Marchers, floats and bands will make their way through Kaimuki Thursday night starting at Saint Louis high school at 6 p.m.
