Sacred Hearts Academy students are teaching a valuable lesson about giving back to the community.

On Thursday, students presented checks to two charities: Aloha United Way and the American Cancer Society.

They raised money throughout the fall semester, holding a bake sale and organizing special theme days to collect donations.

Lower-school students also contributed through Coins for a Cause.

Overall, the students gifted $7,174 — $3,732 for Aloha United Way and $3,442 for American Cancer Society, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
