An Oahu man was one of dozens injured after a woman reportedly crashed her vehicle into a busy sidewalk on the Las Vegas strip Sunday.
KHON2 talked with Waipahu graduate, 22-year-old Ricky Ridela about the terrifying experience.
“Once I got hit and my eyes opened after everything was said and done, I was in shock,” said Ridela. “My body was in shock, I was shaking. I didn’t know really what happened. I know i got hit.”
Ridela was in Las Vegas with the wrestling team at Pacific University.
“My eyes were closed the whole time I couldn’t really tell you if I flew over the car or what, but yeah I was pretty lucky to be alive,” added Ridela.
He said the team was headed back to their hotel room with several teammates when he was hit.
Pacific University in Oregon confirmed that one person was injured traveling with the wrestling team in Las Vegas.
Officials say he had non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released Sunday night.
Police say the suspect, Lakeisha Holloway crashed into pedestrians intentionally.
An Arizona woman was killed in that crash.
Holloway is now charged with murder with a deadly weapon leaving the scene of an accident, and child abuse because she had her 3-year-old child in the car with her.
