(CNN) — Admit it — one of the last things you do before going to bed is check your smartphone.
We’re all guilty, but staring at that bright screen in a dark room can not only hurt your eyes, it can affect your sleep. Exposure to a smartphone’s blue glow in the dark can affect your circadian rhythm.
Now, Apple has a new program it says may help you snooze better.
It’s adding a new mode to the iPhone called Night Shift, and it will be in the next iOS update.
Night Shift essentially changes the screen from a blue light to a warmer setting that’s easier on the eyes. It also figures out your location and turns on automatically at night.
While it doesn’t guarantee a good night’s sleep, Apple says when it comes to your phone, it can at least help.
Apple released the upgrade to developers to test out, but the company has not announced when it will be available for the iPhone and iPad.
