A man accused of setting his girlfriend on fire has been indicted by a grand jury.
Bobby Young-Townsend, 25, was indicted on charges of attempted second-degree murder, second-degree arson, second-degree terroristic threatening, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest, the Honolulu prosecutor’s office said Wednesday.
His bail was confirmed at $1 million.
Police say on Jan. 18, Young-Townsend was arguing with Leilani Parado, 26, on Lihikai Drive in Kahaluu.
Court documents allege that Young-Townsend grabbed a large fast food cup that contained about three inches of gasoline, threw it on Parado, then flicked a lighter.
She was taken to Straub Clinic and Hospital with second- and third-degree burns on 30 percent of her body.
