When the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers face off in Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, the 50th state will be represented.

Broncos Wide Receiver Jordan Norwood was born in Honolulu and is the son of Radford graduate, former University of Hawaii defensive back and long time college football defensive coordinator Brian Norwood.

Jordan’s mother Tiffiney was born and raised in the islands, explaining the families strong belief in living with the “Aloha Spirit.”

During Super Bowl Week, Norwood caught up with former UH assistant coach, NFL United Kingdom analyst and KHON2 correspondent Jeff Reinebold.

It also turns out that Norwood isn’t the only Broncos with island ties, as Reinebold also spoke with Denver safety Shiloh Ke’o, who wanted to make sure he threw some “shakas” back to the 808 to his large family in Hau’ula.
