The public is invited to a memorial Monday in Hilo for the late Senator Gilbert Kahele. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. at the Civic Auditorium.

More overnight roadwork this week on the H-1 freeway. Up to three lanes will be closed on the westbound side between the Pearl City/ Waimalu off ramp and the Waipahu off ramp.

More lane closures this week on Kamehameha Highway in the Mililani area. Just one lane will be open in both directions from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Officials will give us an update today on Hale Mauliola, the new homeless transitional shelter on Sand Island.
A high surf advisory remains in effect for the north and west shores until 6 p.m. Monday. Surf heights of up to ten to 15 feet are expected.

Travelers should call ahead to check the status of their flight as another snowstorm heads for the East Coast. The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning.

Honolulu police arrested an inmate on the run since Thursday. The Department of Public Safety says Laumaka Work Furlough Center inmate Gilbert Rivera, Junior returned to OCCC Sunday afternoon. He’s serving time for burglary and theft and now faces an escape charge.

Today is National Pancake Day, and I-Hop will be giving all its customers a free stack of pancakes until 7 p.m. Monday night. I-Hop will also be collecting donations for charity.
