Two people rescued from high surf at Queen’s Bath

Large waves swept two people out to sea on Kauai’s north shore Sunday.

County officials say the man and woman were at Queen’s Bath in Princeville about 10:15 a.m. when the waves swept them out.

Fire rescuers on a Jet Ski were able to pick them up and bring them to the Hanalei lifeguard tower.

Paramedics assessed their condition and released them, while firefighters warned people at the popular shore site about the dangerous surf.

A high surf advisory is currently in effect for north- and west-facing shores.
