Tuesday’s Need to Know

Crews begin repair work Tuesday on part of Kamehameha Highway in Ka`a`awa that crumbled into the ocean. They hope to finish by the end of the week.

One eastbound lane of the Moanalua Freeway will be closed Tuesday through Thursday while crews trim trees, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m

A “Talk Story” session on Hawaii’s mongooses will be held Tuesday night on Molokai. It starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Pauole Center in Kaunakakai.

Another big swell rolls in. A high surf advisory is in effect along north and west facing shores through Wednesday evening.

A public hearing on the resolution to extend lifeguard hours from dawn to dusk begins at Honolulu Hale Tuesday morning at 9. Right now, lifeguards work from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A reminder: Don’t be alarmed if you hear sirens on Tuesday. It’s the monthly test of the outdoor siren warning system.

Maui police are looking for a suspect in an armed bank robbery in Lahaina last Friday. He’s described as 20 to 25 years old, 5’11” to 6’1″, 150 to 160 pounds, with a tattoo on his neck and a goatee. If you have any information, call Maui police.

Tuesday is Super Tuesday. Here in Hawaii, presidential selection events are fast approaching. Republicans will caucus on Tuesday, March 8. Democrats host a preference poll on Saturday, March 26. You must be registered with one or the other to participate.
