Every second Friday, psychologist Dr. Suzanne Gelb joins us on Wake Up 2day to chat about children and the family. Today’s Keiki Talk topic is about getting our children unplugged from electronics.
Parents can start to turn around the bad habits of overusing electronics by setting an example themselves. Dr. Gelb suggests first looking at the the habits of the parents, and changing those bad habits first.
Other suggestions Dr. Gelb offers are to:
- Teach safe practices
- Monitor usage
- Enforce rules
- Create tech-free, family time
- Shut down devices when possible
- Give undivided attention
