Organizers say they have been working on the show for 11 months in collaboration with pyrotechnicians from the U.S. and Japan.
They expect to make arrival in Havana, Cuba, in about a week, around March 20, weather-permitting.
The road is privately owned, and the city says it’s not responsible for maintaining it.

There will be nighttime lane closures on H-1 Freeway eastbound, Kapiolani Blvd. and Kapahulu Ave. in the Kaimuki area beginning Sunday.
