Kalihi home heavily damaged by fire

Flames heavily damaged a Kalihi home Thursday.

At 11:53 a.m., firefighters were called to 1760 Gulick Avenue. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames emanating from the kitchen window of a single-story home.

A second alarm was canceled as they brought the fire under control shortly after noon. The fire was fully extinguished by 12:47 p.m.

No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Damage was estimated at $150,000. The American Red Cross has been dispatched to assist the family who lives there.

Fire officials have not yet confirmed what caused the fire.
