High winds prompted the National Park Service to cancel boats to the USS Arizona Memorial Thursday.
The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and its partner sites remain open.
WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument Superintendent Jacqueline Ashwell said in a statement: “The National Park Service and US Navy understand how meaningful and important a trip to the USS Arizona Memorial is for our visitors, and that their available time while visiting Oahu may be limited. The safety of our visitors and employees is always our first priority, and we appreciate the public’s understanding and patience when strong winds impact boat operations.”
These winds are forecast to weaken over the weekend.
An average of 4,000 people visit the memorial each day.
