The pedestrian that was struck and killed by a car on Friday, April 8 on Makapuu Drive fronting the Diamond Head Theatre has been identified as 73-year-old Patricia Chung of Honolulu.
The call came in at 7:55 p.m. Chung was crossing the street — not in a marked crosswalk — when she was struck by a 2000 Toyota Camry traveling south and driven by a 41-year-old man.
She was initially reported in critical condition with head and internal injuries, but then was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed, alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
This is the 11th traffic fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 14 the same time last year.
