Veteran funk band Tower of Power plays Honolulu in May

East Bay veterans and island favorites Tower of Power will bring the funk to Hawaii fans when they return to Blaisdell Arena on Saturday, May 14.

Tickets are now on sale at $55 at the Blaisdell Center box office, all Ticketmaster outlets including Walmart, online at www.ticketmaster.com or charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000.

Featuring an acclaimed horn section described as the best in the business, TOP are responsible for infusing funky, radio-friendly melodies with a rich dose of soul, resulting in such 1970s classics as “What is Hip?,” “You’re Still A Young Man,” “So Very Hard To Go,” “This Time It’s Real”, “Time Will Tell,” “Don’t Change Horses (in the Middle of the Stream),” “Down to the Nightclub” and “You Ought to Be Havin’ Fun.”

Formed in Oakland, California in 1968, original members include horn men Emilio Castillo and Stephen “Doc” Kupka and the dynamic rhythm section of Francis “Rocco” Prestia on bass and drummer David Garibaldi.
