University of Hawaii Rainbow Warrior Jacob Sheldon-Collins earned recognition as the Big West Player of the Week on Monday after his impressive efforts against UC Davis last week.
This marks the senior shortstop’s first career honor and the first Rainbow Warrior to collect a weekly recognition from the Big West Conference this season. Sheldon-Collins carried the ‘Bows in their road campaign against UC Davis, batting .533 with three runs scored and five RBI, helping the Rainbow Warriors advance to the top ranking in Big West standings.
In the series opener, Sheldon-Collins tied career highs of four hits and three RBI, in a 6-5 comeback victory, and scored the winning run in the 10th inning against the Aggies. In Sunday’s doubleheader, Sheldon-Collins had another RBI in the 5-0 win in game one and went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI in the 7-2 game two win. The Melbourne, Australia native dominates all Big West hitters with a .412 average after his two multiple-hit games.
The Rainbow Warriors returned home Monday morning and will prepare for their three-game series against Cal Poly at the Les Murakami Stadium, April 15-17.
