Hawai’i’s Olympic weightlifting legend Tommy Kono has died.
A family member said he passed away at 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon from complications of liver cirrhosis, a scarring of the liver.
Kono was a three-time Olympic medalist and an inductee to the Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame.
He was 85 years old.
The Kono family provided a statement saying:
