Firefighters put out 2-alarm structure fire in Ahuimanu

Firefighters put out a two-alarm structure fire in Ahuinanu.

The incident was reported just after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday on Hui Koloa Place near Ahuimanu Place.

Fire officials say firefighters found a two-story home with heavy smoke emanating from a ground floor bedroom window when they arrived on the scene. The fire was under control within 30 minutes and was extinguished by just after 4 a.m.

Authorities say two people were home at the time of the fire and were able to evacuate the building. The homeowner was transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

The fire is under investigation and the fire cause and damage estimate are not available at this time.
