Authorities swarmed the parking lot outside Walmart on Keeaumoku Street Thursday night in pursuit of a fugitive from Sacramento.
Timmy Miller, 48, was wanted by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office on an arrest warrant for rape.
On or about March 28, Miller was investigated by Sacramento authorities in violation of rape by means of force and the use of violence.
On June 9, the Sacramento Superior and Municipal Court issued a $3 million arrest warrant for Miller; however authorities determined he had already fled to Honolulu.
Just after 7 p.m. Thursday, U.S. Marshals, Honolulu police officers, and FBI agents tracked Miller to the Walmart and found him in a vehicle on the first level of the parking structure.
Authorities first assessed the scene to ensure Miller would be taken into custody safely, without endangering the public. Then they moved in and swarmed the vehicle.
Officials say Miller resisted arrest until he saw the presence of all the officers. He was taken into custody and booked at the Honolulu Police Department’s central receiving without further incident.
Miller has an extensive criminal history, including lewd and lascivious acts with a minor by force, battery, assault with a deadly weapon, strong arm robbery, resisting law enforcement, assault with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, escape, child cruelty, kidnapping with violence, narcotics possession, and extortion.
He awaits a court appearance and extradition back to Sacramento.
