Former University of Hawai’i All-American Chad Owens made his triumphant return to Toronto Thursday, this time in a Hamilton Tiger-cats uniform.

The newly minted Ti-Cats wide receiver caught 6 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown pass in Hamilton’s CFL season-opening 42-20 win over his former Argonauts.

Saint Louis school graduate Jeremiah Masoli hooked Owens up with the TD pass, a 30-yard strike that put the game out of reach at 38-20 with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Masoli finished 27-37 with 318 yards and 3 touchdown passes.

Owens, the league’s 2012 most outstanding player, was a five-time all-star with the Argos.

He went unsigned by Toronto four months ago, ending his six year career with the Argonauts.

Hamilton will host former University of Hawai’i All-WAC linebacker and 2014 CFL MOP Solomon Elimimian and the BC Lions next Friday.
