A huge line snaked around Ala Moana’s Ewa wing Saturday as crowds waited to take part of Shirokiya’s grand reopening.
The business has been renamed the Shirokiya Japan Village Walk and some people arrived as early as 6 a.m.
Customers came to indulge in food, entertainment, gift giveaways and one-dollar beers all day, even in the morning.
“I think it’s wonderful,” said customer Mairi Hayamoto. “It’s just so large and locals can come here to eat, and drink dollar beer.”
“OMG,” said Claudette Jaurigue. “All kine, sushi, tempura, tuna, pastries, noodles, it’s hard to choose, we were walking around in circles. We were getting lost, we need a map!”
The Shirokiya Japan Village Walk is open daily 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
