We want you to have fun this July 4th weekend but if your do party, please be responsible and “Arrive Alive.” The Hawaii Department of Transportation along with the Honolulu Police Department have some tips and rules you need to remember every time you drive in Hawaii.
The Hawaii Department of Transportation is urging drivers to drink responsibly this holiday and supports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s effort to put an end to impaired driving with its Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. Impaired driving is one of the deadliest, most-often-committed crimes in our state.
Nearly half of all traffic fatalities in Hawaii involve drunk drivers, with a high number of incidents seen during holiday periods. Fortunately, it is 100 percent preventable. Drivers should expect to see more HPD patrol vehicles and sobriety checkpoints this Fourth of July weekend, so make sure you obey the law: Don’t drink and drive, and don’t let your friends do it, either.
