A Kauai man was sentenced Thursday for sexually assaulting a child.
Kyron Corpuz, 25, of Lihue, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for incidents that occurred between 2012 and 2016.
Corpuz was arrested on March 14 after the juvenile reported the assaults to school counselors. The assaults had occurred at the family’s residence.
On April 7, Corpuz entered no contest pleas to one count of sexual assault in the second degree, a class B felony, and one count of sexual assault in the third degree, a class C felony.
“Our thoughts are with the victims and survivors of this defendant’s crimes and we hope they are able to move forward in their lives knowing that this defendant will be in prison for a long time,” said prosecuting attorney Justin Kollar. “Child sex assault remains a problem in our community and we will not rest in our efforts to achieve justice in these cases.”
