Ocean Safety officials on Kauai reopened Kealia Beach to swimming Thursday.
It was closed Wednesday after lifeguards reported that a 10- to 12-foot possible tiger shark was spotted roughly 75 yards offshore.
‘No Swimming’ and ‘Shark Sighted’ signs were posted along the beach and the public was advised to stay out of the water as lifeguards monitored the area.
The beach was reopened after subsequent checks showed no signs of sharks.
