Maui’s Hana Highway reopens after landslide

A landslide on Maui forced the closure of Hana Highway, about three miles outside of Makawao.

The closure was first reported at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, between the six and seven mile markers.

Crews cleared the debris and reopened the highway by 1 p.m.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation says the landslide was triggered by previous rainy weather.
