Three men were arrested after an alarming discovery in a package mailed to Honolulu.
A postal inspector alerted authorities and a search warrant uncovered nearly four-and-a-half pounds of crystal methamphetamine tucked in four children’s coloring books.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the U.S. Attorney’s office, the package was sent to Honolulu from Redwood City, California.
Investigators set up a sting, delivering the package with fake drugs and a tracking device inside.
Authorities say it came into contact with three men during its pickup, transfer, and opening.
According to the task force officer behind the complaint, “the attempted possession of this quantity of methamphetamine and the manner in which it was packaged is not consistent with personal use but rather is consistent with distribution.”
