An American Red Cross volunteer from Hawaii is joining the disaster response effort to help flood victims in Louisiana.
Thousands of homes are underwater after more than 20 inches of rain fell in and around Baton Rouge over the weekend.
It’s likely the worst natural disaster since Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
The American Red Cross is sending more than 500 disaster volunteers from all over the country, and has mobilized 60 disaster response vehicles, 40,000 ready-to-eat meals, and more than two dozen trailer loads of shelter and kitchen supplies.
Renise Bayne from Oahu will be assisting in mass care operations management.
