Honolulu police have re-opened Kunia Road in both directions between the Kunia Store and Anonui Street after two people were killed in a crash.
The crash was reported at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to Emergency Medical Services, a man and a woman, both in their 30s, were pronounced dead at the scene after the Nissan sedan they were in went out of control, struck a guard rail and flipped over several times.
Another passenger, a 19-year-old man, was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Police say the driver, a 32-year-old man, was speeding south on Kunia Road, attempting to overtake other vehicles traveling in the same direction by pulling into oncoming lanes of traffic.
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were also factors in the crash.
The road was re-opened about five hours later. An investigation is ongoing.
This marks the 36th and 37th traffic fatalities this year, compared to 32 the same time last year.
