Bench warrant issued for man accused of possessing, distributing child porn

A bench warrant has been issued for a man accused of possessing and distributing child pornography.

Jeffrey P. Bettis, 50, was indicted by an Oahu grand jury on two counts of promoting child abuse in the second degree, a class B felony.

Each count is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Bettis is accused of disseminating eight images of children being sexually exploited. He is also accused of possessing 104 images and 30 videos of children being sexually exploited, with at least 29 of the images and 17 of the videos depicting children under the age of 12.

The investigation was conducted by the Hawaii Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in the Attorney General’s office.

His bail is set at $11,000.
