At 12:53 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, fire, police and paramedics in West Maui responded to the beach on the south side of Black Rock in Kaanapali for an unresponsive male pulled from the water.
Police and EMS personnel were already performing life-saving measures when Lahaina firefighters arrived at 1 p.m.
Someone noticed the man floating near shore and pulled him from the water. Bystanders came to the aid and performed CPR until paramedics and MPD officers arrived.
The man is a 38-year-old visitor from Pasadena, California. After the visitor regained a pulse, paramedics transported the man to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition. The victim’s condition in not available.
