Originally canceled earlier this month due to the threat of Hurricane Lester, organizers of the annual Okinawan Festival haven’t given up, and will hold two events this weekend.
On Friday, a cultural fair will be held at Honolulu Hale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For those who need an andagi fix, Hawaii United Okinawa Association volunteers will be making them fresh and available for $10 a dozen. Walk-up sales start at 10:3 a.m.
Then on Saturday at the Hawaii Okinawa Center in Waipio, a craft fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. will be the final bon dance of the season.
During the bon dance, andagi, andadog, tofu champuru, shoyu pork plate, yakisoba, Portuguese bean soup, teriyaki chicken skewers, shave ice and other food will be available for purchase.
