Thousands of job seekers gathered at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall Tuesday to check out the Job Quest’s latest job fair.
Hundreds of recruiters were in attendance, including representatives from Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa, and UPS.
“We’re constantly looking for people who actually have experience in the hospitality industry, but specifically food and beverage servers, spa technicians and therapists, Japanese speakers are also an area that we’re in constant need to hire people for, and all areas of the resort as well,” said Lianne Maeda with Aulani.
“We are starting our peak season October 1 through January of next year,” said Jocelyn Blake from UPS. “Basically, we’re looking for seasonal help. We’re looking for cover drivers. We’re looking for people to work inside our center, load, unload, so we are looking for some people to work for us ASAP.”
If any of the UPS seasonal applicants do well, Blake says workers could even be offered a more permanent part-time position.
Organizers say 2,350 people attended the fair, as did 250 employers.
Some businesses noted they didn’t see the volume they’re normally accustomed to because of the state’s low unemployment rate.
