A heads up for drivers in Honolulu this weekend.
The Board of Water Supply announced lane closures and parking restrictions on Pensacola Street for a water system improvement project.
The closures will take place this Saturday, Sept. 24, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. as crews connect new waterlines to McKinley High School, McKinley Community School for Adults, and DOE Facilities Maintenance and Reprographic buildings.
Drivers are advised to use alternate routes if possible and allow for additional travel time due to:
- Roving lane closures on Pensacola Street between South King Street and Kapiolani Boulevard; and
- Street parking will be restricted along certain areas of Pensacola Street between South King Street and Kapiolani Boulevard.
This work is taking place on a Saturday to minimize impact to the schools, officials said.
The renewal of the water system will improve fire protection and water service reliability for residents and businesses in the area.
