An event for homeless veterans and their families is being held Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m at the McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Beach Park

The “2016 Veterans Stand Down on Oahu” allows vets to access VA health care and VA benefit experts, along with community agencies that provide services, at one site to ensure coordinated care and offer tools and support to vets and their families seeking to stabilize their housing situation.

Veterans will have the chance to speak with subject matter experts from the Veterans Affairs Pacific Island Health Care System, VA Regional Benefits Office and community agencies: Catholic Charities Hawaii, Institute for Human Services, U.S. VETS, Waikiki Health, Hawaii Disability Rights Center, Vet Center, Premier Benefits Consultants, and more to receive information on housing, employment, mental health, and education benefits.

Lunch will be provided, as well as haircuts, clothing, eye exams, flu shots and the distribution of personal supplies.

Veterans are asked to bring their DD214 or Veteran card.
