Local military units are scheduled to conduct various training throughout October that may be heard by surrounding communities.
The Army produces a monthly schedule of ground training activities to alert its neighbors of upcoming training activities that are louder in nature and may be heard outside the military installation. This schedule is subject to change and is not inclusive of all Army aviation activities or East Range training activities between Wahiawa and Mililani Mauka.
The training is as follows (Please note, all training dates are subject to change based on environmental and other factors.):
Oct. 1-7: Army artillery and mortar training on Schofield Barracks
Oct. 3-6: Army Lightning Academy training with blank ammunition and explosive simulators on East Range. Training will occur during daytime and nighttime hours.
Oct. 8-9: Marines artillery training on Schofield Barracks
Oct. 10-14: Army artillery and mortar training on Schofield Barracks
Oct. 12-21: Army Lightning Academy training with blank ammunition and explosive simulators on East Range. Training will occur during daytime and nighttime hours.
Oct. 27 – Nov. 9: The 25th Infantry Division will be conducting a large-scale training exercise called Lightning Forge. Training with blank ammunition and explosive simulators will occur during daytime and nighttime hours at various Army training areas across Oahu, to include: East Range, Dillingham Army Airfield and Kahuku Training Area. Updated announcements regarding exercise-related training noise and convoys will be published closer to the actual training events.
Weather, such as overcast conditions, can increase noise and vibrations. Should individuals hear noise, there is no immediate danger.
To report concerns related to noise or training, community members can call the U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii (USAG-HI) Noise Concern Line at (808) 656-3487 or email email@example.com.
