It’s amazing the things you can do with cans, especially if you have a group of architects, builders, designers and engineers.
Nine teams collaborated creatively for the 11th annual Canstruction competition at Pearlridge Center on Saturday. It was put on by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Honolulu Chapter.
This years theme—galactic canned goods.
For the next two weeks the public can vote for their favorite by donating a can, one per vote.
WATG’s canned-food structure “We CAN Guard the Galaxy Against Hunger” was named Juror’s Favorite in Saturday’s Canstruction competition.
The structure, nearly 8′ by 8′ by 8′, depicts Groot from the movie “Guardians of the Galaxy” from thousands of cans of chili and corned beef hash.
Canstruction has provided 330,000 pounds of canned food to the Hawaii Foodbank over the past decade.
