National Manufacturing Day is a nationwide celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. It’s held annually on the first Friday of October so, this year, Manufacturing Day is this Friday, October 7. Summer Shiigi, Co-Owner of The Collective, joined us in studio with more on the day.
Here in Hawaii, the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii, in partnership with INNOVATE Hawaii, is coordinating public tours of manufacturers statewide to provide the general public with an insider’s look at how Hawaii manufacturers operate and to highlight the importance of manufacturing to the community and the economy.
As a fashion manufacturer in Hawaii, The Collective is participating and are welcoming those interested in fashion and manufacturing to visit them at their shop at Ward Warehouse!
Manufacturers statewide are participating including those on Oahu, Hawaii Island, Kauai and Maui. Manufacturers on Oahu include The Collective, Hawaii Coffee Company, Manoa Chocolate Hawaii, Maui Divers, Rengo Packaging and Pacific Allied Products; on Hawaii Island, Kona Brewing Company and Pacific Biodiesel; on Kauai, Kaikini Bikini and Aunty Lilikoi; and on Maui, Maui Gold Pineapple Company, Maui Wine. All tours statewide are taking place this Friday between 11am and 1:00pm and are free and open to the public.
