Heavy rain triggered flooding in Hilo Wednesday morning.

Many residents woke to find the Hilo Bayfront Soccer Fields submerged in water.

The area is prone to flooding, and footage provided by Hawaiiverse shows just how bad it got.

Kamehameha Highway was closed from Manono to Ponahowai streets.

The Hawaii Fire Department also responded to a flooded home in Kaumana. Crews helped place sandbags to divert the water.

A flash flood watch remains in effect for Hawaii Island and Maui through Wednesday afternoon.

Storm remnants have been bringing cloud cover and heavy rain to parts of the state over the past few days.

Drier, sunny weather is expected to return Thursday.
